Position Overview
Boutique San Antonio law firm seeking a detail-oriented legal assistant to support our credit union collections practice. This role keeps our high-volume litigation moving by preparing documents from templates, calendaring deadlines, assembling demand and petition packages, and communicating with members about payments and account resolution. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of legal support experience, is highly organized, and enjoys a fast-paced, close-knit team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble collections documents from firm templates, including demand letters, petitions, payment agreements, and exhibits.
- Calendar and monitor court deadlines, hearings, and filing dates so that nothing slips.
- Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and supporting documentation, and redact sensitive information as required.
- Enter and update matter information, time entries, and tasks in the firm's case management and task management systems (for example, Curo, ClickUp, and SharePoint).
- Prepare and process outgoing mail, including demand packages and certified mailings.
- Communicate professionally with clients and members regarding payments, balances, status updates, and document requests.
- Support attorneys with e-filing, document production, and general litigation tasks.
- Conduct basic research and gather information to support case preparation.
Requirements
- Experience: At least 2 years of legal assistant, paralegal, or comparable legal support experience.
- Education: High school diploma required; a paralegal certificate or college coursework is preferred.
- Legal software proficiency: Comfort with case management software, the Microsoft Office suite, and e-filing systems, with a willingness to use AI tools to work efficiently.
- Organizational skills: Exceptional organization and the ability to juggle a high volume of files and deadlines.
- Attention to detail: Meticulous accuracy in preparing and reviewing documents.
- Communication skills: Professional written and verbal communication with clients, members, and team members.
- Team player: A collaborative, dependable approach, with a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
