Duties
- Prepare and assemble meals according to menu plans, ensuring quality and presentation standards are maintained
- Accomplish preparation work, cook, portion, and plate meals with and without supervision
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, sanitation practices, and storage protocols
- Serve meals to residents with friendly, attentive, person-centered service that promotes a positive dining experience
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas by adhering to sanitation standards and cleaning schedules
- Accommodate resident special dietary needs
- Report necessary inventory needs in a timely manner to accommodate needed ingredients without waste
Requirements
- Previous experience cooking for groups is required. Having only restaurant line cook experience does not statisfy this requirement
- Understanding of proper food preparation, recipe reading and adaptation, and cooking in bulk without generating waste
- Ability to handle food safely and hygienically while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization
- Hands-on knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment such as meat slicers, broilers, steam tables, deep fryers, and dishwashers
- Excellent communication skills for serving customers or residents with professionalism and warmth
- Ability to work comfortably within time constraints expected in an assisted living setting

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
