About Sterling & Our Brands: Sterling Insurance Group is a growing independent insurance agency serving Greater Boston and coastal New England. The Role: We are seeking a Business Development & Strategic Operations Leader to drive revenue growth while building scalable, efficient processes across the organization. This role blends hands-on business development with strategic planning, process improvement, and leadership across our Boston and Vineyard operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow revenue across targeted personal and commercial segments.
- Identify, prioritize, and pursue strategic partnerships, referral sources, and new market opportunities.
- Build and manage a prospecting and follow-up framework (pipelines, outreach cadence, tracking, reporting).
- Partner with agency leadership to design and refine operational workflows, KPIs, and accountability structures.
- Analyze performance data and client profitability to inform strategy, staffing, and process changes.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve efficiency, client experience, and producer/CSR effectiveness.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and coaching of team members as growth initiatives scale.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 1–2 years of experience in a client-facing, professional role (insurance, banking, financial services, real estate, or similar).
- Comfortable with proactive outreach, follow-up, and light sales/business development.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to leadership and external partners.
- Ability to work primarily from our Boston office, with occasional travel to Martha’s Vineyard as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in business development, sales leadership, consulting, or operations within insurance or financial services.
- Prior experience in an agency, brokerage, or related professional services environment.
- Demonstrated success building or improving processes, workflows, or reporting in a growing organization.
- Familiarity with CRM tools, pipeline management, and KPI dashboards.
