Position Summary:
The primary role of the Electrical Helper is to assist Electricians and Instrument Technicians in assembly and work performance, demolition, cleaning, removing debris, building and grounds maintenance, handling trash, maintenance and construction. He must work under the direct supervision of an experienced Electrician or Instrument Tech or Fitter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Must have knowledge of all applicable company/client safety standards and procedures, housekeeping, fire protection and material handling procedures.
- Can demonstrate the proper use of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Knowledge of basic electricity and/or basic electronic/pneumatic instrumentation a plus.
- Can demonstrate the proper care and use of basic tools i.e., hand, electric power, and pneumatic.
- Can demonstrate the ability to cut pipes, conduit, instrument tubing, metal and wood.
- Can demonstrate knowledge of basic mathematics skills.
- Can demonstrate the ability to read a tape measure.
- Can demonstrate the ability to correctly identify materials and nomenclature.
- Must be able to correctly determine sizes and types of bolts and nuts.
Skills/Abilities:
- Minimum of 1 year experience with substation high voltage (4,100-230,000 volts)
- Ability to terminate low voltage >240v cables and wires
- Ability to manage and understand wire types and sizes
- Ability and knowledge of proper wire handling

Physical Requirements:
· Ability to frequently stand, walk, climb ladders, stairs, and structures, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, with occasional lifting of heavier materials using proper lifting techniques or mechanical assistance.
· Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach overhead, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements while installing and terminating electrical wiring.
· Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights when required.
· Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to distinguish wire colors, read electrical drawings, operate hand and power tools, and perform precise electrical terminations.
· Ability to wear and work in required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, arc-flash protection, hearing protection, and fall protection equipment as required.
Work Environment:
This position is performed primarily at active construction sites for utility-scale substations and renewable energy projects. Employees are regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, and varying terrain. The role requires working around energized and non-energized electrical equipment, heavy machinery, construction vehicles, and other typical jobsite hazards while maintaining strict adherence to all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and client-specific safety requirements. Travel to project sites and overtime, including weekends, may be required to support project schedules.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
