We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated CNC Machinist to join our Tool Room team. In this role, you will set up and operate a variety of numerical control machines—including Mills, Lathes, WEDM, and Grinders. Because our tool room handles low-volume and custom work, proven experience with one-off machining projects is highly preferred. If you have strong technical expertise, thrive on variety, and bring a high level of attention to detail, we want you on our team.
CNC Machining & Setup:
- One-Off & Custom Production: Successfully execute set-ups and machining for unique, low-volume, or one-off machining projects with minimal supervision.
- Preparation: Prepare and pre-set all tools needed for machining operations. Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces according to setup instructions.
- Tooling Management: Assemble cutting tools in tool holders, position them in machine spindles, or insert them into specified machine magazines.
- Programming & Operation: Load control media from the network, retrieve preprogrammed instructions, and manipulate controls/code to index cutting tools.
- Machine Calibration: Calculate and set controls to position spindles relative to the workpiece; regulate cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
- Troubleshooting & Prove-Outs: Conduct manual programming and critical first-time prove-outs during setups, which is vital for one-off parts where there is no room for error.
- Quality Inspection: Measure completed workpieces for exact conformance to specifications and adjust machine settings as needed.
General Operations & Maintenance:
- Document production accurately and report any out-of-specification parts to the Lead.
- Maintain and regularly verify personal measuring instruments to ensure ongoing accuracy.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly workstation.
- Adhere to all safety policies, work instructions, and training requirements.
- Support company Safety, Quality, and Lean Management programs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 4 to 10 years of related CNC machining experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience).
- Project Expertise: Demonstrated experience handling one-off, prototype, or custom machining projects within a tool room environment.
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or HiSET equivalent.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of CNC machine operations, manual programming/prove-outs, and precise measurement tools.
- Autonomy & Adaptability: Ability to pivot quickly between different machine types and projects, working independently or collaboratively to solve unique problems.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional focus on the minute details of a project to ensure precision on the first try.
- Time Management: Highly organized with the ability to manage time effectively and meet strict deadlines.
What We Offer:
- Competitive hourly wages with overtime eligibility (Non-Exempt).
- A dynamic workshop environment with a wide variety of work (no mindless assembly-line repetition).
- A structured, safety-first working environment.
- Opportunities for continuous training and professional development.
