Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional first impression
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using the EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system Tebra.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification to facilitate smooth billing processes
- Collect and process payments, including medical collections, while maintaining accurate financial records
- Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and professionally
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and needed consents.
- Maintain organized medical records, files, and electronic health information management (EHR systems) .
- Assist with medical scheduling, intake procedures, and updating patient information to support care plans and overall clinic operations
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with strong clerical skills
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Tebra, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred
- Knowledge of some medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance verification processes
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and 10-key typing capabilities
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Prior Mental health clinic or Medical office experience is desirable; familiarity with Mental health terminology is advantageous
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a growing environment while maintaining attention to detail
