The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head Cook (or his/her delegate), the Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting Head Cook to do food preparation including but not limited to: chopping, cutting, marinating and peeling at the assigned store or Central Kitchen. The Assistant Cook is also responsible for checking the quality/quantities of the receiving food products, carrying and storing the products received, the cleanliness of kitchen utensils, including tools, containers, clothes, towels, working and food storage areas.
You Will:
- Responsible for the storage of food, both incoming stock
- Responsible for preparing ingredients before cooking, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood
- Ensure proper receiving is done and food is stored in the appropriate conditions
- Responsible for his or her own station, ensuring that all items are appropriately cleaned and ready for use before and after each shift
- Ensure recipes, ingredient specifications, quantity, quality, cooking time as stated in the SOPs are being executed
- Ensure the kitchen meets sanitation standards as set by the Head Cook and Food safety
- Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
- Ensure that food is properly stored and always handled by ensuring all temperature records are properly completed
- Responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene, equipment, and tools maintenance; ensure garbage, recycled materials and other disposable items are handled timely and properly
You Should Have:
- Possess knowledge、skills and prior experience in making Kitchen products (include BBQ, Hot Foods, Dim Sum, Sushi and/or others Semi-finished Products)
- Possess 1 to 3 years and/or above relevant experience
- Possess knowledge in workplace health & safety and food safety (Food Safe Certification requires)
- Able to communicate in English, proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous
- Flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, morning and evening hours
- Possess basic computer skills in MS Office
