Math Instructional Coach
Position Summary
The Math Instructional Coach supports the development and implementation of high-quality mathematics instruction across assigned grade levels. The coach partners with teachers and school leadership to improve instructional practices, analyze student achievement data, and promote effective teaching strategies that increase student learning outcomes. This position is non-evaluative and focuses on professional growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers to strengthen mathematics instruction through coaching cycles, modeling lessons, co-teaching, and observation feedback.
- Support the implementation of curriculum, instructional resources, and assessment practices aligned with state standards and school goals.
- Analyze student performance data to identify instructional needs and develop targeted improvement strategies.
- Facilitate professional development sessions, workshops, and collaborative planning meetings focused on mathematics instruction.
- Assist teachers in developing lesson plans that incorporate best practices, differentiated instruction, and student engagement strategies.
- Support the integration of instructional technology and evidence-based teaching practices into mathematics classrooms.
- Participate in grade-level, department, and leadership meetings as appropriate.
- Monitor instructional trends and research to recommend effective strategies and resources.
- Build positive relationships with teachers, administrators, students, and families to support academic success.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification as required by state regulations.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience in mathematics.
- Strong knowledge of mathematics content, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Previous instructional coaching, mentoring, curriculum leadership, or teacher leadership experience.
- Experience analyzing student achievement data and facilitating professional development.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position requires frequent walking, standing, and movement between locations, as well as direct interaction with students, families, and staff in a variety of settings. Responsibilities may include meetings in school, office, community, or home environments and the ability to respond to urgent situations as needed. The work environment may involve exposure to varied conditions, occasional evening or weekend activities, and a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions.
