What You'll Do:
Technical & Field Work
-
Develop foundational project management capabilities, including the application of technical support, with supervisory input as needed.

Complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessment training and conduct Phase I ESAs, including site reconnaissance, file review, and report preparation, under the direction of and accompanied by senior staff.

Initiate project set up and implementation under the direct supervision of senior staff.
-
Build a working understanding of sample collection, preparation, preservation, hold times, and laboratory submission regulations and guidelines.

Assist with groundwater and soil investigations and media sampling; perform boring and test pit layouts and evaluate site access with senior oversight.

Assist with remediation system installation, operation & maintenance, and underground storage tank assessments.
Project Management
-
Begin to learn how to manage project budgets and the need for change orders; prepare invoices and assist with collection efforts.

Support scheduling, training, and oversight of subordinate staff members.

Develop a basic ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines, consulting with your supervisor daily as needed.

Assist with preparation of proposals for training and developmental purposes.
Client Interaction & Team Collaboration

Interact and collaborate with staff members across a variety of projects.

Begin to learn about marketing and business development, with a focus on building your client database and maintaining regular client contacts.

Communicate changing site conditions to your supervisor, discuss their implications on field investigations, and implement directed changes in the field.

Work with senior staff to develop an understanding of how field observations and sample results relate to findings and conclusions in the report.
Documentation & Reporting

Attend project meetings with senior staff and assist with resolutions to technical and administrative problems.

Prepare environmental reports, perform analysis, and provide recommendations in collaboration with senior staff.

Clearly document site observations for field work performed and submit daily reports.

Build a basic knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and guidelines, and their implications on study findings and conclusions.

Develop acceptable technical writing skills, including spelling, grammar, and professional content, collaborating with and seeking feedback from senior staff and Principal reviewers to improve over time.

What We're Looking For:
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s and/or Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or another degree relevant to the practice of environmental consulting.

Must have 2 or more years of experience related to environmental due diligence and remediation.

If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required.
Skills and Abilities
-
Basic knowledge of environmental principles and applications.
-
Basic knowledge of permitting processes, environmental regulations, and environmental test methods.
-
Interest in project management, consulting, and business development.
-
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds a number of times each day and walk on uneven ground through various terrains.

The expected pay range for this role and location is $50k - $70k/year. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
