The Wesley House Community Center is a Christian ministry established in 1907 to identify and build on the strengths of individuals and families to create a stronger community. We currently provide academic, emotional, and spiritual support to 100+ students. Our pre-k program has an academic focus and helps students become enthusiastic learners. We are located less than a mile from Downtown Knoxville and the University of Tennessee.
Job Description: Serving as a Pre-K Coordinator is a fun and rewarding experience, allowing individuals with a chance to truly impact the lives of youth in the early developmental stages. The Pre-K Coordinator will oversee the daily operations and programming of the Pre-K program, ensuring a high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experience for all children. Key Responsibilities:
·Lead and supervise Pre-K teachers, providing guidance, support, and professional development.
· Develop, implement, and evaluate the Pre-K curriculum to ensure it aligns with early childhood education best practices and standards.
· Monitor and assess classroom quality, student progress, and staff performance.
· Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for children.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians regarding program updates, student progress, and concerns.
· Ensure staff and program compliance with all TN DHS licensing regulations, policies, and procedures.
· Manage scheduling, classroom assignments, field trips, and resource allocation for the Pre-K program.
· Collaborate with Director of Youth Services & Senior Director of Programs to align the Pre-K program with the broader mission and goals of Wesley House.
· Coordinate and participate in family engagement activities, workshops, and Wesley House events.
· Collaborate with local organizations and business to ensure development of youth and staff needs are met
· Must obtain F endorsement 60 days upon hire
· Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
· Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching or coordinating early childhood programs.
· Strong knowledge of early childhood development, curriculum planning, and best practices.
· Proven leadership and staff management skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and staff.
· Ability to foster a nurturing, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
· CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
· Teaching certification required
Reports To: Director of Youth Services
Program/Work Hours & Compensation:
· 37 hours week, with shifts running up to Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm or 9:00am-6:00pm
· $20/hour with $0.25 increase based on education and experience
