Kiddie Academy of North Phoenix
$17.50 - $18.50 per hour
AM Hours Approximately 6:30am-1:30pm
Kiddie Academy of North Phoenix is looking for a dependable, organized, and positive Cook to join our team. This role is responsible for planning and preparing flavorful meals and snacks, managing kitchen inventory, maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, and supporting daily academy operations when needed.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to our 5-week rotational menu
- Follow USDA nutrition guidelines, Arizona child care standards, and Kiddie Academy requirements
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, allergy management, and cross-contamination procedures
- Keep kitchen areas, equipment, and food prep spaces clean and compliant
- Order food and kitchen supplies and manage inventory
- Maintain required records including temperature logs, menus, allergy lists, and cleaning checklists
- Support center operations and assist with temporary classroom coverage when needed
- Work closely with leadership and staff to support licensing compliance, health inspections, and family experience
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of institutional or commercial cooking experience
- Experience with meal preparation, food safety, and kitchen organization
- Ability to read and follow menus and prepare appropriate quantities
- Basic math skills for portioning and food prep
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist in classrooms if needed
- Experience in a childcare or school setting preferred
- Experience ordering food and managing inventory preferred
Requirements:
- Current Arizona Food Handler’s Card required by start date
- Current Certified Food Protection Manager certification required by start date
- Must be reliable, timely, and committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children
