Farm Hand / Production Associate (Part-Time)
Location: Bolingbrook, IL
Pay: $16/hour (W-2)
Hours: Part-time, up to 32 hours/week
Schedule: Typical Monday–Thursday, weekend availability
Job Overview
Spira Farms is hiring a Part-Time Farm Hand / Production Associate to support daily operations at our indoor vertical farm in Bolingbrook, IL. This is an entry-level role with paid training in a clean, climate-controlled environment.
Responsibilities
- Planting, harvesting, and packaging microgreens
- Plant care and crop monitoring
- Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas
- Operating farm equipment (seeders, harvesters, watering systems, soil-filling machines)
- Following food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures aligned with USDA GAP standards
- Using tablets or mobile devices for task tracking and QR-code scanning
- Working independently and in small teams
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Standing for extended periods
- Repetitive tasks such as seeding, harvesting, and packing
- Working on ladders, elevated shelving, and walk-in coolers
- Exposure to water, wet floors, and cleaning agents
- Indoor, climate-controlled environment
Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- English proficiency required
- Reliable transportation
- Preferred but not required: food handling, agriculture, warehouse, or production experience
