Job Summary:
The Yard Jockey / Spotter / Switcher is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient yard environment at Go2 Logistics. This position supports daily terminal operations by moving trailers and containers throughout the yard, positioning equipment for loading and unloading, and ensuring accurate trailer tracking and yard organization.
Available Schedules:
Monday - Friday: 4am - 2pm
Monday - Friday: 2pm - 12am
Tuesday - Saturday: 6am - 4pm
Key Responsibilities:
· Move trailers to and from loading doors, staging areas, parking locations, and designated yard positions.
· Position trailers to meet dock operational needs, including placing trailers at specific doors and pulling trailers away from doors when loading or unloading is complete
· Safely maneuver trailers in confined and congested areas.
· Coordinate trailer movements with dock personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
· Ensure trailer locations are accurately tracked and updated daily.
· Perform daily trailer checks to verify equipment locations and operational readiness.
· Manage yard organization to ensure equipment can be easily located and accessed.
· Fuel and refuel reefer trailers as needed.
· Move containers on and off chassis.
· Report maintenance concerns, equipment defects, and damage to the shop and supervisors promptly.
· Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard equipment.
· Maintain yard cleanliness, including trash removal, spill cleanup, and general housekeeping.
· Assist with dock operations as needed.
· Follow all company safety policies, operational procedures, and applicable regulations.
· Perform additional duties as assigned to support terminal operations.
Qualifications
· Prior yard jockey, spotter, switcher, hostler, or similar trailer-moving experience required.
· Valid driver's license required.
· Experience operating yard tractors, terminal tractors, or commercial vehicles preferred.
· Ability to safely back and maneuver trailers in tight spaces.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, and entering/exiting equipment.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
· Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and varying shifts as business needs require.
