Job Purpose: The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating packaging operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production across all assigned lines. This position provides daily direction and support to Machine Operators, and Labelers to maintain steady workflow, minimize downtime, and maximize efficiency. The Supervisor actively monitors performance metrics through systems such as Vorne and other tools to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions. This role is essential in maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards, driving continuous improvement, and developing a high-performing team. Position Responsibilities:
Primary Job Duties:
· Oversee day-to-day packaging operations, ensuring all lines run efficiently, safely, and according to production schedules.
· Supervise, coach, and support Machine Operators, and Labelers to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals.
· Monitor performance metrics using Vorne and other systems to track line efficiency, downtime, and throughput.
· Analyze data to identify causes of inefficiency and implement corrective and preventive actions.
· Maintain accurate daily reports on production performance, downtime, and shift output.
· Ensure all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality standards are followed at all times.
· Coordinate with Maintenance, Material Handling, Mixing, and Quality teams to prevent and resolve production interruptions.
· Plan and adjust labor assignments based on workload, efficiency, and skill levels to optimize output.
· Verify that materials, packaging components, and labels are available and ready before production starts.
· Conduct floor checks regularly to monitor quality, housekeeping, and employee performance.
· Support and enforce company policies, including attendance, conduct, and performance expectations.
· Maintain and track employee attendance and address attendance issues in coordination with HR and the Manager.
· Provide coaching, feedback, and disciplinary action when necessary to maintain accountability and performance standards.
· Participate in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new employees; provide input on promotion and termination decisions.
· Lead or participate in investigations of performance, safety, or quality incidents and document findings appropriately.
· Drive 5S and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety, and work environment organization.
· Communicate production goals, expectations, and improvement opportunities effectively to all team members.
· Foster teamwork and collaboration, promoting a culture aligned with company values and operational excellence.
· Perform other related duties as assigned to support safe and efficient operations.
· Collaborate with Managers on strategic initiatives, capacity planning, and long-term improvement projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or leadership training preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing or packaging operations.
· At least 1 year of supervisory or lead experience required.
· Experience using systems such as Vorne or other performance tracking tools preferred.
· Knowledge of Lean and continuous improvement principles preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to guide, motivate, and develop team members.
· Ability to manage multiple production lines and balance competing priorities effectively.
· Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, including waste elimination, standard work, and continuous improvement.
· Ability to interpret and utilize data from Vorne and other efficiency tracking systems.
· Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
· Knowledge of attendance management, coaching, and corrective action processes.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees, peers, and management.
· Strong sense of accountability, organization, and time management.
· Ability to enforce policies consistently while maintaining a positive, people-first environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Regular standing and walking throughout the production floor.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to handle packaging materials and operate equipment when necessary.
- Ability to tolerate typical manufacturing noise, temperature changes, and production pace.
