Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our psychiatric healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care and supporting the psychiatric staff in delivering efficient and effective healthcare services. Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare professionals with patient examinations and procedures
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and other relevant patient information
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling insurance forms if necessary
- Perform basic coding and billing tasks
- Assist with patient education by explaining procedures, medications, and post-treatment care instructions
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Previous experience in a medical office or hospital setting is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus
- Compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals struggling with mental health issues
