About the Role
As Controller, you will direct the financial activities of a rapidly growing national insurance distribution platform. Our agency operates across the private health insurance, ACA, and Medicare markets. The Controller will facilitate the day-to-day accounting operations and reports directly to the CFO.
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in general accounting and risk management, experience working with financial systems, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while remaining organized and precise. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the company’s financial information and supporting our ongoing financial operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries for general ledger accounts.
- Document business transactions and review expense records.
- Prepare and/or review key account reconciliations (bank, credit card), as well as reconciliations with key operating systems (payment vendors, merchants).
- Monthly and year-end financial close processes.
- Directly supervise Accounting Clerks, A/R & A/P, implement ongoing training and maintain compliance standards, as necessary.
- Apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports for CFO and management. Recommend improvements to company’s accounting operations.
- Research new GAAP pronouncements.
- Assist CFO and management in the annual budgeting process; Track revenue streams and conduct financial analysis across multiple partners.
- Maintain organized financial documentation and filing systems.
- Assist with preparation of information needed for internal and external audits.
- Preserve compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Prepare annual 1099 forms and maintain W-9 records.
- Support treasury related activities including banking reconciliations and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university.
- 8-10 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA preferred.
- QuickBooks experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Knowledge of accounting, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software, and payroll systems.
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, financial documents, and accounting literature. Ability to write routine reports, memos, and financial statements. Ability to speak clearly and effectively with all levels of management and stakeholders.
Schedule and Location
- Full-time, in-office role based in our Boca Raton office
- Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
