Job Summary
Precious Hands & Hearts Home Care Agency is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and attentive Caregiver for an Overnight Sleep-Shift (Sleep Nights) position. This role is designed for individuals who can provide a reassuring overnight presence and ensure our client's safety. While you are permitted and expected to sleep during the core hours of the shift, you must remain on-site and ready to assist the client immediately if she wakes up and requests help.
Duties
- Safety & Monitoring: Remain on-site throughout the night to ensure a safe, secure, and quiet environment for the client.
- On-Call Assistance: Respond promptly whenever the client rings or calls for assistance during the night.
- Personal Care Support: Provide hands-on assistance with nighttime mobility, including safely guiding the client to and from the bathroom.
- Comfort Care: Assist the client with repositioning in bed to ensure her comfort and prevent discomfort or injury.
- Morning/Evening Transition: Briefly assist with minimal bedtime preparation or morning wake-up routines if required by the schedule.
Skills
- Shift Schedule: Overnight hours (e.g., 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM / 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM).
- Sleep Allowance: A private, designated sleeping area is provided. Caregivers are permitted to sleep during the core overnight hours when the client is resting.
- Pay Structure: Because this is a Sleep Night position allowing for dedicated rest time, the base hourly rate for sleeping hours is lower than standard daytime shifts.
- Interrupted Sleep Provision: In accordance with labor guidelines, any time spent actively awake and assisting the client (such as bathroom visits or repositioning) will be fully tracked and compensated at the standard active hourly rate.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in home care, caregiving, or senior safety preferred.
- Ability to wake up quickly and respond calmly if called upon.
- Excellent listening skills, empathy, and dependability.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check.
- Absolute commitment to client privacy and dignity (HIPAA compliance).
Pay: $10.75 - $12.00 per hour
