Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
- Support patients with medication administration following proper protocols and medical terminology guidelines
- Provide compassionate dementia and Alzheimer’s care, including memory care techniques and engaging activities to promote cognitive well-being
- Help with meal preparation, feeding assistance, light cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment in compliance with health standards
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while respecting HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Assist with specialized care such as catheter care, hospice support, or working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification or equivalent personal care assistant credential recognized by state licensing boards
- Experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and vital signs monitoring; CPR certification is required or obtainable upon hire
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in diverse settings including long-term care facilities or community-based environments
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills to connect effectively with clients and their families
- Physical ability to lift patients safely using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts; capable of standing, walking, bending, and performing light housekeeping tasks
