Our growing AG / Food Processing client is PARTNERING with STAFFING PARTNERS in search of an experienced Assistant Maintenance Manager for this IMMEDIATE DIRECT HIRE opportunity. SALARY: $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year (depending on experience)
BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, Vacation, Holiday Pay, Sick Pay
LOCATION: Stanislaus County to include Modesto, Oakdale, Riverbank, etc.
HOURS: Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, overtime as needed.
Position Summary
The Assistant Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance, repair, and reliability of all production equipment, utilities, and facility systems. This role helps ensure maximum equipment uptime, food safety compliance, and operational efficiency while promoting a safe working environment. The Assistant Maintenance Manager supervises maintenance technicians, coordinates preventive maintenance programs, and assists with capital improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily maintenance operations to support continuous production.
- Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians and mechanics.
- Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems.
- Ensure maintenance work complies with food safety regulations, GMPs, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures.
- Monitor maintenance work orders and equipment history using the HMS System.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, and Sanitation departments to schedule maintenance activities.
- Oversee Sanitation department, ensuring clean facilities, documentation review, and supplies purchases.
- Assist in developing maintenance budgets and controlling maintenance costs.
- Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate purchasing of maintenance materials.
- Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and facility improvements.
- Troubleshoot and maintain electronic sorting equipment with reject quantification to optimize sort.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and productivity.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
- Assist with contractor management and ensure work is completed safely and according to specifications.
- Participate in emergency response and provide on-call support as required.
- Fumigation oversight, ensuring a safe environment and proper documentation.
Qualifications Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs or CMMS software.
- Knowledge of automated production equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors, PLC-controlled systems, compressors, and utilities.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and OSHA requirements.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
