Salary: $90,000 - $110,000/year (Higher compensation may be considered for exceptional experience)

About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Process Engineer to support and optimize thermal processing operations within a highly automated food manufacturing environment. This individual will partner closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Research & Development to validate manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and support new product commercialization.
This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in thermal processing, sterilization, and process validation who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and optimize thermal processing and sterilization procedures to ensure product quality and food safety.
- Partner with R&D to support new product introductions, process development, and commercialization efforts.
- Lead process validation activities, including thermal validation studies and documentation.
- Analyze production data to identify process improvements that increase efficiency, throughput, and product consistency.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing process issues and implement corrective actions.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to improve manufacturing performance.
- Create and maintain process documentation, validation protocols, work instructions, and technical reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with food safety and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in capital improvement projects and equipment/process implementation as needed.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of Process Engineering experience within food or pet food manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with thermal processing and sterilization systems.
- Experience performing process validation and documenting validation activities.
- Strong technical documentation and report writing skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- Experience with retort or other thermal processing equipment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality systems.
- Experience supporting new product launches and commercialization.
- Continuous Improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.).
- Experience with capital projects and process optimization.
