Job Summary
Join our dedicated special education team as a Speech-Language Technician (SLT), where you will play a vital role in supporting speech therapy services for students in grades K-6. In this role, you will work closely with licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to implement therapy plans, assist with screenings, and document student progress to support communication success in the educational environment. Duties
- Work directly with children and students fostering a positive and engaging environment.
- Conduct speech and language therapy sessions using plans and protocols designed and prescribed by the supervising SLP.
- Assist in the implementation of established Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives; provide data to the SLP regarding student performance.
- Administer routine speech-language screenings without interpretation, and collect data/maintain charts to monitor student progress.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and objective documentation of therapy sessions and progress notes in compliance with state, federal, and district regulatory standards.
- Prepare therapy materials, schedule activities, and maintain a positive, engaging, and organized learning environment.
- Communicate consistently with the supervising SLP regarding student performance; assist the SLP in sharing objective progress data with educators and parents as authorized.
Skills
- Must meet USBE requirements for a Speech-Language Technician license (e.g., a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent approved coursework).
- Basic understanding of speech production, childhood language development, and standard behavioral management techniques in an educational setting.
- Ability to work productively and accept constructive feedback under the structured supervision of a licensed SLP.
- Ability to follow detailed, prescribed treatment protocols exactly as written while maintaining student engagement.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary educational team.
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism regarding student records and special education compliance.
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
