Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, as well as experience in diverse patient populations such as geriatrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics. This role is essential in helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals through effective treatment plans and therapeutic interventions.
Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients with various conditions.
- Provide direct patient care, including administering therapeutic exercises and modalities at patient homes.
- Conduct assessments to monitor patient progress and report findings to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on care plans and home exercise programs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress notes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in discharge planning to facilitate smooth transitions for patients leaving care settings.
- Uphold safety standards and infection control protocols within the facility.
Skills
- Proficient in trigger point therapy techniques to alleviate pain and improve mobility.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practices.
- Understanding of physiology and anatomy to effectively support treatment interventions.
- Experience in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, home health, acute care, outpatient clinics, and geriatrics.
- Familiarity with developing care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Ability to work with diverse populations including pediatrics and orthopedics.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
