Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Water Treatment Operator to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining water treatment and wastewater systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. Responsibilities
- Operate water treatment and wastewater systems, including pumps, filters, chemical feeders, and other treatment equipment to maintain optimal performance.
- Monitor system parameters using distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), adjusting controls as needed to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform maintenance on industrial pumps and other heavy equipment involved in water and wastewater treatment processes.
- Collect data on water quality, system performance, and environmental conditions; analyze results to identify trends or issues requiring attention.
- Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on water treatment equipment to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Follow safety regulations diligently by utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to safety protocols, and participating in safety training programs.
- Assist with the operation of tanker trucks for the transportation of chemicals or waste materials as required in wastewater management.
Skills
- Strong understanding of water treatment processes, wastewater systems, and environmental compliance standards.
- Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) for process automation.
- Mechanical knowledge related to pump operation, equipment repair, and industrial pump maintenance.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for data collection, chemical dosing adjustments, and system analysis.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including heavy lifting tasks safely performed with proper techniques.
- Familiarity with water utility distribution systems and wastewater treatment plant operations.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret system data, identify issues promptly, and implement effective solutions.
