Preschool Teacher/Center Director: Head Start
Head Start is seeking a creative, organized individual to lead a preschool teaching team and oversee operations of a single-classroom center.
As Teacher/Center Director you will:
- Develop, coordinate, and implement daily lesson plans, classroom activities, field trips, and special events
- Foster a welcoming and safe learning environment, that promotes overall child development and encourages parents to be active participants in their child’s education
- Hire, supervise, and schedule center staff to ensure proper adult:child ratios and smooth program operation
- Maintain an inventory of center materials and supplies, initiate purchases, and coordinate facility improvements
- Assist Head Start management in ensuring compliance with day care licensing and Head Start Performance Standards
This position has school breaks and summers off.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field; one year teaching experience; one year supervisory experience; valid, unrestricted New York State driver’s license

Working Conditions:
Typical pre-school environment and equipment; local travel; occasional work in client residences; possible exposure to childhood diseases
Pay Range Guide:
- Standard Start Rate - education and experience meet job requirements
- Advanced Start Rate - education and experience exceed job requirements (subject to approval)
