Overview
Join our dynamic transportation team as a Dispatcher, where you'll play a vital role in coordinating and managing road transportation operations to ensure seamless freight movement. Duties
- Coordinate and schedule vehicle dispatches using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to optimize routes and delivery times
- Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and phone call management tools to relay instructions and updates
- Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, ensure timely deliveries, and adjust plans as needed
- Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation for freight movements
- Maintain compliance with DOT regulations by adhering to safety standards, hours-of-service rules, and vehicle maintenance protocols
- Support logistics operations by analyzing transportation data to identify efficiencies and resolve issues proactively
- Handle customer inquiries with professionalism, providing timely updates on freight status and resolving concerns through excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching within road transportation operations or logistics environments
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS technology, and vehicle fleet management tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for data entry, reporting, and communication purposes
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Effective analysis skills to interpret transportation data and improve dispatching processes
- Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations related to freight transport and safety standards
- Exceptional communication skills for internal coordination and customer service interactions
- Ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure
- Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, freight documentation, and vehicle dispatch software is highly desirable
