Operating from our 35,000-square-foot facility in Novi, Michigan, we maintain one of the industry's largest inventories of gear cutting tools while providing precision sharpening services to customers across a wide range of industries.
We are seeking an experienced Gear Hob Grinding Technician to join our sharpening department. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision work and has experience sharpening gear hobs while maintaining close tolerances.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will sharpen and restore precision gear cutting tools while maintaining strict quality standards.
Equipment includes:
- Star PTG CNC Gear Hob Sharpener
- Helios KFS 250 CNC Gear Hob Sharpener
- Klingelnberg Gear Hob Sharpeners
- Koepfer Gear Hob Sharpening Equipment
- Okamoto Rotary Grinder.
- Boyar-Schultz Rotary Grinders
Daily responsibilities include:
- Sharpening gear hobs
- Sharpening gear shaper cutters
- Setting up and operating CNC and manual grinding equipment
- Inspecting finished tools using precision measuring equipment
- Maintaining close tolerances and quality standards
- Performing routine machine maintenance
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of gear hob grinding experience
- Experience operating manual and/or CNC grinding equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Ability to maintain close tolerances
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- Experience with Star, Helios, Klingelnberg, Koepfer, Okamoto Rotary Grinder, or Boyar-Schultz equipment
- Experience sharpening gear shaper cutters
- CNC programming and setup experience
