Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, well experienced, and compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional top tier care to our young patients and their families and ensuring their comfort and safety during dental procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of pediatric dental terminology, infection control protocols, the ability to multitask, the ability to work in a team environment, and the ability to assist the dentist and other clinical staff effectively in various procedures.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Educate patients and their families on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in accordance with established protocols.
- Utilize dental systems such as Open Dental for scheduling and patient management.
- Implement aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, prosthodontics, and medical coding as needed for patient care.
- Collaborate with the dental team to create a positive experience for pediatric patients.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pediatric Dental Assistant with at least 2+ years of experience as a Pediatric Dental Assistant.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, assisting in chair-side procedures and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with medical documentation processes and coding systems.
- Excellent communication skills to successfully interact with children, their guardians, practice staff, and the provider.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Aseptic technique proficiency is essential for maintaining patient safety.
- Knowledge of anatomy related to dentistry is highly desirable.
- Hold current certifications in coronal polishing and pit & fissure sealants.
- Hold current and active Texas Dental Assistant License
- Experience with Open Dental software is preferred
