We are seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide continuous one-to-one skilled nursing care for a student in a school setting. This role requires strong pediatric respiratory skills and confidence managing a tracheostomy and ventilator throughout the school day.
Student Overview:
The student is a male student with severe chronic lung disease of prematurity, chronic respiratory failure, tracheostomy and ventilator dependence, dysphagia, G-tube dependence, and developmental delay. He requires uninterrupted airway monitoring, respiratory care, feeding support, and emergency readiness.
Responsibilities:
- Provide uninterrupted one-to-one skilled nursing care throughout the school day.
- Manage tracheostomy and ventilator care according to current physician orders and the individualized planof care.
- Continuously monitor airway status, respiratory effort, oxygenation, and pulse oximetry.
- Perform suctioning, nebulizer treatments, oxygen support, and other respiratory interventions as ordered.
- Administer physician-ordered G-tube feedings and manage the feeding pump while monitoring for intolerance or aspiration concerns.
- Maintain immediate emergency readiness with backup tracheostomy supplies, suction equipment, oxygen, and Ambu bag.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate changes promptly to the appropriate school, family, and clinical team members.
