Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports both the Preconstruction and Operations teams in the successful estimating, planning, execution, and closeout of concrete construction projects. This role assists with estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor coordination, project documentation, reporting, and field operations. The APM serves as a key link between the office and field teams to help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to company quality standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Preconstruction Support
- Assist in quantity takeoffs and bid preparation for cast-in-place concrete, foundations, slabs, elevated decks, tilt-wall, site concrete, and related scopes.
- Solicit and track vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents.
- Assist with bid leveling and scope comparison.
- Help develop project budgets and cost estimates.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits.
- Assist with preparation of project proposals, qualifications, and value engineering recommendations.
- Coordinate transfer of project information from estimating to operations during project handoff.
Project Operations Support
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in managing active projects.
- Track project schedules and milestones.
- Coordinate material procurement, deliveries, and equipment needs.
- Assist with subcontractor and supplier coordination.
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project correspondence.
- Maintain project documentation and electronic files.
- Assist with owner, architect, engineer, and subcontractor communications.
- Participate in project meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
- Monitor project budgets, committed costs, and productivity reports.
- Help identify cost impacts, delays, and schedule conflicts.
- Assist with monthly forecasting and cost-to-complete reporting.
Field Coordination
- Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress and document project status.
- Support Superintendents with scheduling and coordination efforts.
- Verify quantities installed for billing and cost tracking purposes.
- Assist with punch list and project closeout activities.
- Promote and support company safety initiatives.
- Ensure project documentation, reports, and photos are maintained accurately.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
- Maintain accurate project records and logs.
- Assist in preparation of owner pay applications.
- Review and process vendor invoices and subcontractor pay applications.
- Generate weekly and monthly project status reports.
- Track permits, inspections, testing reports, and compliance requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the operations team.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent construction experience considered.
Experience
- 1-5 years of experience in commercial concrete construction, general contracting, or related construction field.
- Internship or field experience in concrete construction is a plus.
Skills & Knowledge
- Understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of concrete construction methods and sequencing.
- Ability to read blueprints and perform quantity takeoffs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Ability to walk active construction sites and navigate uneven terrain.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs when necessary.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
