Job Description Summary
The In-Home Caregiver provides compassionate, non-medical support to clients in their homes, assisting with daily living activities to promote safety, comfort, and independence. Responsibilities include personal care (bathing, grooming, toileting), light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, and occasional transportation, all in accordance with individualized care plans.
The caregiver follows safety and infection control guidelines, maintains a clean and healthy environment, and promptly observes, documents, and reports changes in client condition. This role requires reliability, professionalism, strong communication, and the ability to work independently while delivering respectful, client-centered care.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
1. Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics in the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care.
2. Recognizes emergency situations and follows appropriate emergency procedures when indicated.
3. Demonstrates basic infection control procedures and follows agency guidelines
especially with regard to handling of hazardous wastes.
4. Renders services in strict accordance with the written care plan.1111 1111
5. Provides personal care service, such as
· maintaining a clean, safe and healthy environment
· bed, sponge, tub, or shower bathing
· shampooing in sink, tub or shower
· caring for nails and skin
· oral hygiene
· assisting with toileting and elimination
6. When necessary provides transportation to appointments and for family functions or outings.
7. Performs homemaking and other environmental services that facilitate sanitary and safe care at home. Routine housework including but not limited to: laundry, mopping, dusting.
8. Observes, reports and documents changes in patient status to the Intake Manager or Private Duty Concierge RN.
9. Maintain records and keep activity records current, submits documentation according to agency guidelines.
10. Performs support services, such as meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping and errands within the guidelines of the written plan of care.
11. When necessary provides transportation to appointments and for family functions or outings.
12. Attends in-service programs according to agency guidelines, as directed.
13. Adheres to Private Duty customer service expectations, such as: wears ACHHH collared shirt for all Private Duty client interactions and reviews the care plan and client summary prior to visit.

Position Qualifications
1. Educational: Must be 18 years of age.
2. Licensure: Valid driver’s license and valid insurance.
3. Experience: At least one year of caregiving experience.
Takes oral and written instructions well; can read and write. Works in a team responsibly and independently without direct supervision. Records observations and activities. Good communication skills.
4. Knowledge and Abilities:
a. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to and
communicate with individuals over the life span.
b. Shows an interest in and an aptitude for working with the sick, disabled or
elderly in their homes.
