About the student
- 15 year old student
- The student needs to work with a tutor for support with learning Japanese.
- The student is not taking a school course but is planning on traveling to Japan within the next year, so would benefit from working with a tutor who can introduce him to the fundamentals of learning the language, which includes (2) phonetic alphabets, and speaking with consistent pronunciation and grammar, and not so much writing.
- He would also benefit from learning some of the cultural and complex social levels of politeness in preparation for his travels abroad.
- The goal is to provide some ongoing support for the next 6 months to determine where we go from there, hopefully with lots of progress and growth that encourages this young man to continue.
- The family is hoping the tutor will recommend some materials & resources to work with.
- The family wants 1 hour sessions 2 times a week, between 4pm-7pm, any day Monday through Friday.
- The family is seeking a tutor who can meet at their home in Houston in the Meadowbrook Village neighborhood not far from St. Augustine Catholic School.
Qualifications
- Ideal candidates have prior experience working with high school students.
- Ideal candidates will have prior experience teaching/tutoring Japanese.
- Ideal candidates will be fluent in Japanese and English.
- Willing to travel within your preferred local radius to meet the student (typically 5-10 miles)
- Due to insurance requirements, applicants must not be a minor.
Student Availability
MON-FRI: 4:00pm-7:00pm
Pay & Benefits
- $28.00-$32.00 per hour.
