American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level IV Trauma Center in Wisconsin, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and BLS certification.

Work in a 24-bed Med/Surg unit at a 101-licensed-bed Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
-
Patient population includes oncology, surgical (bowel, GU, CBI), cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, COVID/TB overflow, and outpatient infusions (antibiotics/fluids)
-
Pediatric patients (>1 yr) are present on the floor but travelers will not be assigned to care for them
-
Patient ratios: 1:4-5 on days, 1:4-6 on evenings/PMs, and 1:6 overnight

12-hour evening shifts (14:45–03:15), transitioning to 19:00–07:00 partway through the contract; 36 hours per week
-
Weekend rotation: every other weekend
-
Floating required to other Med/Surg units and ED boarding; travelers are first to float
-
On-call is not required, but interest can be communicated to management
-
Epic EMR (experience preferred); Alaris and Pyxis also in use
-
CNA support with ratios of 1:4-5 on days, 1:6 evenings, and 1:8 overnight

Charge nurse carries a partial patient assignment
-
Respiratory Therapy (RT), hospitalist, RRT/Code Blue team available 24/7; centralized telemetry with telemetry tech
-
IV/VAT team available Mondays and Thursdays; phlebotomy services available (RNs draw from central lines)
-
OT, PT, and ST available on weekdays with limited coverage on weekends
-
Active WI or Compact RN license required

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Proficiency with chest tubes, IV skills, port/central line management, and knowledge of CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo required

Stable trach management preferred but not required
-
Chemo certification is not required
-
Epic EMR experience preferred
-
COVID vaccination required

Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the last year
-
Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis upon management review

Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible

Orientation is 1–2 days based on candidate comfort level

Holiday rotation required (every other holiday)

Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply

Any color scrubs are acceptable, but must be professional in appearance
