Job Title: Technology Specialist
Reports To: Operations Technology Manager and/or Director of Technology
Location: East Haven High School
Salary: $57,625.83 for the 2026-2027 school year
Position Summary:
The Technology Specialist provides technical support for academic and administrative
computing throughout East Haven Public Schools. This position is responsible for maintaining
district hardware, supporting end users, and assisting with network and infrastructure operations.
Qualifications/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Two (2) years of experience in technology support or graduation from a technical school
program for hardware/software support -
Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS operating systems

Working knowledge of wired and wireless networking hardware and peripherals
-
Experience with Google Workspace applications
-
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
-
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and independently with minimal supervision
-
Experience in a K-12 educational environment preferred

Experience with student information systems (e.g. PowerSchool) preferred
-
Experience with helpdesk ticketing and asset management systems preferred
-
Experience with VolP phone systems preferred
-
CompTIA A+ Certification or Google Certified credentials preferred
-
Valid motor vehicle driver's license for travel between district buildings
Responsibilities:
Hardware Support
-
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair district workstations including Chromebooks,
Windows PCs, MacBooks, and Apple devices -
Set up, configure, and inventory new workstations and equipment
-
Support classroom technology including interactive displays, projectors, Apple TV, and
audio systems -
Manage hardware lifecycle including deployment, repair coordination, and surplus
disposal
End-User Support
-
Provide technical support in person, using remote support tools, by telephone and via
email -
Manage support requests using the district helpdesk ticketing system
-
Instruct staff in the proper use and maintenance of technology equipment
-
Support Google Workspace for Education applications and account issues
-
Assist with PowerSchool SIS troubleshooting and basic user support
Network and Infrastructure
-
Install, test and terminate network cabling
-
Assist with installation and maintenance of network devices including wireless access
points, switches and printers -
Support IP phone system handsets including basic configuration and troubleshooting
-
Assist with security camera system support and video retrieval requests
Device Management
-
Support Chromebook fleet management using MDM platforms
-
Assist with device imaging, enrollment and configuration
-
Maintain accurate asset tracking and inventory records
-
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Operations Technology Manager or
Director of Technology

Ability to see and read objects closely, as wiring, labels on equipment, reading/proofreading

Ability to learn and acquire an understanding of new information, methodologies and

Ability to perform manipulative skills such as writing, collating, using a keyboard and/or
calculator with speed and accuracy for long periods of time. -
Ability to concentrate on detail and issue with some interruption, pressure and changing

Memory to perform multiple and diverse tasks over long periods of time and the ability to
remember information that has been previously learned. -
Ability to use knowledge and reasoning to solve routine problems.
