Job Overview
We're looking for a warm, dependable, and energetic Afterschool Teacher to join our Afterschool Program, serving school-age children (ages 5–12) during closing shift. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with kids, thrives in a structured but fun environment, and is building their ECE career in a supportive, accredited setting.

Responsibilities
- Implement engaging daily activities aligned with ACA's philosophy and Florida's school-age learning standards — including STEM, literacy, arts, character development, and physical activity
- Provide consistent, active supervision at all times; maintain all Florida DCF and ACA staff-to-child ratios
- Use positive guidance to redirect and coach children through conflicts and big feelings
- Support children with homework, independent reading, and enrichment activities
- Build warm, trust-based relationships with children and families; greet and dismiss children by name at arrival and pick-up
- Assist with school lunch, kitchen duties.
- Assist with afterschool snack preparation, service, and clean-up in compliance with Florida food safety guidelines
- Coordinate busing and school pick-up transportation following all ACA safety policies
- Maintain accurate daily documentation: attendance, Name-to-Face log, and incident/accident reports as needed
- Keep classroom and outdoor play areas clean, organized, and safe per ACA and Florida DCF standards
- Provide consistent, active supervision at all times; maintain all Florida DCF and ACA staff-to-child ratios
- Use positive guidance to redirect and coach children through conflicts and big feelings
- Support children with homework, independent reading, and enrichment activities
- Build warm, trust-based relationships with children and families; greet and dismiss children by name at arrival and pick-up
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting, including preschool or early childhood education.
- Age: 18+ years old
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or ECE coursework preferred
- Credentials: Active Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) or CDA preferred; will consider candidates currently enrolled
- DCF Training: Florida DCF 45-hour childcare in-service training (transcript required; "Not Yet Part 1 & Part 2" accepted)
- Certifications: Current Pediatric CPR & First Aid required
- Experience: Minimum 1+ year working in a licensed Florida childcare or school-age program preferred
- Clearance: Must pass Level 2 FBI/FDLE background check
- Driver's License: Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record
