Job Overview
Responsible for providing direct Independent Living Skill support to developmentally disabled adults to help program participants attain a level of independence which allows them to live and work in the community with dignity, safety, and hope. Mentors report to the Case Manager.
Responsibilities
· Work 20 – 40 hours per week.
· Maintain accurate, current, and legible Individual records.
· Provide direct support services to clients.
· Implement program curriculum, including Individual training plans and schedules.
· Directly deliver individual learning experiences to assist each Individual served in obtaining his/her IPP objectives.
· Attend planning meetings at the Regional Center if requested to do so by the client, the client’s conservator, or the Regional Center.
· Help developmentally disabled adults become more independent in the areas of personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, and financial responsibilities.
· Help developmentally disabled adults improve social skills through recreational activities involving community integration.
· Must value the worth of others and treat developmentally disabled people with respect and dignity.
· Must go the extra mile to ensure the program participants we serve are satisfied with our service.
· Maintain positive working relationships with Regional Centers, the client’s family, and others supporting the client.
· Assist with the coordination and execution of structured activities.
· Assist in advocating on behalf of the Individual and ensuring client's rights are observed.
· Participate in all required orientation programs, on the job training, and minimum of 8 hours annual continuing education.
· Comply and document all SCLARC, DDS, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
· Create effective Daily, Weekly or Monthly agenda/plan for assigned caseload.
· Assist clients with identifying what’s important to them and what’s important for them.
· Other duties assigned
Requirements
· HS Diploma or General Education Development (GED) credential
· Year 1 Direct Support Professional certification
· Valid California’s driver’s license
· 6 months experience in a human services organization
· Ability to use a computer in an office environment including e-mail and word processing software.
· CPR & First Aid certification
· Demonstrated proficiency with written and spoken English.
· Authorized to work in the United States
· No felony convictions
· Must pass a DOJ and Federal background check.
· Proof of negative TB Test.
· Meet any additional requirements as specified in Title 17 requirements.
Desirable Qualifications
· Previous experience working with the developmentally disabled population.
· Motivated, task-oriented, and flexible.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $21.00 per hour
