Build Hope. Lead Change. Leave a Legacy.
AmeriCorps Project/Construction Lead Rebuilding Together North Central Florida & SBP
What if your work this year meant a family could come home?
Every day in North Central Florida, vulnerable homeowners live with the aftermath of disasters — leaking roofs, failing structures, unsafe conditions — not because they don't care, but because they can't afford the help they need. You can change that.
Rebuilding Together North Central Florida (RTNCF) and SBP have joined forces around a shared belief: everyone deserves a safe, stable home. Together, we repair homes, restore dignity, and strengthen communities before and after disaster strikes. Now we're looking for a motivated, hands-on leader to join our team as an AmeriCorps Project Lead/Construction Coordinator — someone ready to roll up their sleeves and make a measurable difference.
Why This Role Matters
SBP is a national leader in disaster recovery, working across the Gulf South to close the gap between disaster and recovery for the most vulnerable. RTNCF brings that mission home to North Central Florida — one family, one house, one community at a time. As our AmeriCorps Project Lead, you're not just managing construction — you're rebuilding lives.
You'll walk into a homeowner's story, understand what they've endured, and lead a skilled team to restore what disaster or neglect took from them. Volunteers will look to you for guidance. Homeowners will trust you with their most sacred space. And communities will be stronger because you showed up.
What You'll Do
You'll lead construction projects from first nail to final walkthrough — and everything in between:
- Drive projects forward from planning through completion, keeping schedules, budgets, and safety standards on track
- Lead volunteers on-site, sharing homeowners' stories and transforming a crew of willing hands into a skilled, purposeful team
- Coordinate subcontractors, inspections, and materials to keep work moving efficiently
- Serve as the bridge between homeowners and the construction process — keeping communication clear and compassionate
- Use project management tools to keep documentation tight and accurate
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality, safety compliance, and progress
- Be present for community including special service events like the September 11 Day of Remembrance and MLK Day of Service
This is physical, meaningful, full-time work. Expect to get your hands dirty in all weather and to end each day knowing exactly why it mattered.
Who We're Looking For
You don't have to have built a house before, but you do need to bring leadership, grit, and genuine care for the people we serve.
You're a great fit if you have:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and inspire diverse groups
- A calm, professional presence, even when things get complicated
- A passion for service and a deep respect for the communities you'll work within
- A high school diploma and U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency
- The ability to pass a criminal history check (including National Sex Offender Registry, State, and FBI)
- Age 17 or older
What You'll Gain
This isn't a typical position. It's a 10-month commitment to something larger than yourself and it comes with real support.
