Position Summary:
The Library / Student Success Center Paraprofessional is responsible for creating a welcoming, engaging, and academically focused learning environment that supports students, staff, and school operations. This position combines traditional library services with the management of the Student Success Center and substitute coordination systems.
The successful candidate will foster a love of reading, support student achievement, assist students with technology and coursework, manage substitute coverage, and serve as a central organizational resource for the school. This individual will work closely with students, teachers, counselors, administrators, and community members to ensure that all learners have access to the resources and support they need to be successful.
Typical Responsibilities:
Library Services

Manage the daily operation of the school library.

Check library materials in and out.
-
Assist students in locating books, research materials, and other resources.
-
Recommend books and reading materials based on student interests and reading levels.

Maintain and organize library collections, displays, and inventory.
-
Promote literacy and a culture of reading throughout the school.

Create engaging library displays, book highlights, reading challenges, and literacy activities.

Coordinate and manage an annual school book fair.
-
Assist students and staff with research, technology, and information literacy needs.

Maintain a welcoming, organized, and student-centered library environment.
Student Success Center
-
Supervise and manage the Student Success Center.
-
Support concurrent enrollment students as they navigate college coursework and deadlines.
-
Monitor and support students enrolled in online courses and alternative learning programs.
-
Assist students with online learning platforms, technology troubleshooting, and course navigation.
-
Provide academic support and connect students with tutoring resources when needed.
-
Encourage student engagement, accountability, and successful completion of coursework.
-
Monitor student attendance within the Student Success Center and maintain accurate records.
-
Communicate student concerns, attendance issues, and academic progress to counselors, teachers, and administrators as appropriate.
-
Maintain a positive, structured, and productive learning environment for all students utilizing the center.
Substitute Management Responsibilities
-
Manage the school's substitute system.
-
Manage substitute coverage for staff absences.
-
Arrange teacher-for-teacher coverage when substitutes are unavailable.
-
Maintain substitute contact information and communication systems.
-
Ensure substitute assignments are communicated accurately and efficiently.
-
Organize and maintain substitute folders, lesson plans, emergency procedures, and related materials.
-
Track substitute utilization and assist administration with staffing needs.

Education and Certification:
High School Diploma (required)
Experience and Skills:
Excellent communication skills
- Technical proficiency in word processing and computers
- Some knowledge of classroom management
- Some knowledge of child development
