Job Summary/Objective:
The Electrical Supervisor provides hands-on leadership and technical direction for electrical maintenance activities within a large steel wheel manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Maintenance or Department Manager, this role supervises electricians and electrical maintenance personnel, coordinates daily work assignments, supports preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and ensures that electrical systems, controls, equipment, and projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.
The Electrical Supervisor works closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, and Quality teams to minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain a safe, productive manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, coach, and support electricians and electrical maintenance employees in the safe and efficient completion of daily work.
- Plan, assign, and schedule electrical maintenance work, repairs, installations, upgrades, and project activities to support production needs.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical guidance for electrical systems, PLCs, drives, motors, sensors, control panels, power distribution, automation equipment, and related manufacturing systems.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend asset life.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production disruptions, coordinating emergency repairs and corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure electrical work is completed in accordance with OSHA requirements, company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical codes, and established work standards.
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, completed repairs, equipment history, electrical projects, inspections, and compliance-related documentation.
- Estimate labor, materials, and equipment needs for electrical repairs, installations, and improvement projects.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal resources to source parts, materials, and services needed to complete electrical work.
- Partner with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, and Quality teams to identify root causes, resolve recurring issues, and implement continuous improvement solutions.
- Monitor work quality, productivity, safety performance, and adherence to policies while reinforcing accountability within the electrical team.
- Perform electrical maintenance work as needed to support the team and plant operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in steel manufacturing, wheel manufacturing, automotive, heavy equipment, or another heavy industrial environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience required.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, PLC troubleshooting, variable frequency drives, instrumentation, power distribution, and automation systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining large-scale manufacturing equipment, such as presses, welders, machining centers, conveyors, material handling systems, paint systems, heat treat equipment, or robotic/automated production equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout, arc flash safety, electrical safe work practices, and applicable electrical codes.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, crouch, and work around industrial equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work at heights, from ladders or lifts, and in confined or elevated areas when required.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, heavy equipment, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, gloves, and other PPE required by task or area.
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, or off-shift hours as needed to support production and maintenance activities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
