Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems to various health insurance providers.
- Review and verify patient medical records for completeness and correctness before billing.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payment histories, and collections efforts within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation supports billing processes.
- Resolve billing discrepancies promptly by analyzing medical records and insurance policies.
- Stay updated on healthcare claims management regulations, health insurance policies, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG systems.
- Proven experience with medical billing software and EMR/EHR systems for efficient claim processing.
- Excellent understanding of healthcare claims management, health insurance procedures, and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform medical collection activities effectively while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Familiarity with medical records management and the documentation required for accurate billing.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
