POSITION: Front of House Manager
LOCATION: Kings Theatre - Brooklyn, NY
HOURS: Part-time. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are required per show schedule.
ABOUT THE POSITION
- Kings Theatre, a 3k capacity historic theatre in Flatbush, Brooklyn is seeking an experienced guest services professional to join our team as Front of House Manager. The FOH Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of guest services operations and ensuring seamless operations for staff and guests.
- This role is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and managing guest services staff, troubleshooting patron issues, assisting with VIP activations, and upholding the theatre's high standard of patron services.
- The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, proven experience in problem-solving, and an outgoing demeanor.
- This is a part-time, event-based role with variable hours. The FOH Manager receives 8 guaranteed hours per week for administrative work, including staff scheduling, communication with ushers and the venue team, and deployment sheet creation. Additional hours are tied to the show calendar, which averages 90 events per year, concentrated primarily in the Fall (September through December).
PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS
- This role reports directly to the Deputy General Manager, with additional oversight from the Director of Facilities & Operations.
- Manages recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and payroll processing of guest services team, comprised of ushers, usher supervisors, and lead usher supervisors.
- Creates deployment sheets prior to each show based on event type, occupancy, and specialized event needs.
- Collaborates with General Management to ensure guest services staffing aligns with each event's budged expectations.
- Serve as the primary contact for visitor inquiries, accessibility needs, and conflict resolution.
- Works closely with the Box Office team to troubleshoot ticketing and customer service issues.
- In conjunction with Security, maintain building safety, clear egress paths, and crowd control protocols.
- Enforces company policies and manages corrective actions for staff, including issuing formal warnings, write-ups, and terminations.
EXPERIENCE and SKILLS
- Must have prior front of house experience, preferably in a theatre or concert venue.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act compliance protocols.
- A Field questions from patrons, staff, and clients with efficiency and composure.
- A passion for live music and entertainment is a must!
