Perimeter Security Group (PSG) is seeking a motivated Gate Automation Technician to join our growing team. If you enjoy troubleshooting, working outdoors, and building solutions that keep facilities secure, we'd like to hear from you.
As a Gate Automation Technician, you will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated gate systems and perimeter security equipment for commercial, industrial, municipal, and government clients. This position offers a variety of work, opportunities to develop specialized skills, and the chance to work with industry-leading security technologies.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated gate operators and access control equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and service calls.
- Install and program gate operators, loop detectors, safety devices, keypads, card readers, intercoms, and related accessories.
- Read and interpret plans, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company quality standards.
- Complete service reports and communicate findings with customers and project managers.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Qualifications
- Experience with gate automation, access control, low-voltage electrical systems, or related trades preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel as projects require.
Preferred Experience
- Automated gate operators (LiftMaster, HySecurity, Nice, FAAC, DoorKing, etc.)
- Loop detection systems
- Access control systems
- Low-voltage electrical work
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus, but not required.
