Nature of Work
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor – Athletics, this position is responsible for officiating at District adult athletic events for the Youth Volleyball League. No previous officiating experience necessary; we will train you as an official. Games take place on Saturdays from September 13 through October 17 at Wulf Recreation Center. Attendence of trainings is mandatory and dates are listed below.
Essential Functions
- Officiates youth volleyball games.

Enforces rules of the game.

Communicates and explains the rules to players and coaches.

Intervenes when rules are violated.

Makes final determinations when decisions are questioned.

Inspects venues for safety and reports anomalies to the Athletics personnel.

Assists with coaches’ meetings, tournaments, etc., as assigned.

Possesses a highly defined focus toward both internal and external guest service.

Puts away all equipment.

Knowledge

Technical knowledge of scoring (including an understanding of the use of scoreboards and scorebooks), and timekeeping for the specified sport

Excellent knowledge of the current rules for the specified sport.

Ability to verbally communicate with people of all ages in stressful situations, including but not limited to players and coaches.
Required Training, Experience & Qualifications

No previous officiating experience necessary.

Attendence of Rules Meeting (8/4) and On-Court Training (8/6) required.

Both take place at Wulf Recreation Center.

Successful passing of rules test by 8/25 required to be hired.
