IRONWORKER (Field)
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma preferred
- Basic Math Skills
- Ability to read and understand a tape measure.
- Knowledge and general understanding of construction blue prints
- Ability to layout metal components such as structural members, stairways and catwalks with railings, tanks, transitions, and piping.
- Capacity to use metal forming and welding equipment.
- Basic welding skills in SMAW, MIG and TIG
- Ability to communicate and work well with coworkers and supervisors.
- Have the ability to identify and resolve problems.
- Understand the importance of safety in the workplace.
Reports to: Team Leader while in Field
Supervises: None
Job Goal: Perform the tasks associated with the preparation and timely completion of job fabrication in a manner that represents the best interests of the company.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Layout and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
- Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
- Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers and measuring tapes.
- Locate and mark work, and other component specifications.
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete assemblies or subassemblies, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches and hand tools.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
- Tack-weld fitted parts together.
- Design and construct templates and fixtures, using hand tools.
Experience:
- Welding: 2 years (Required)
