We are seeking a licensed mental health therapist to join our fully remote team. The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, organized, ethical, and passionate about delivering high-quality behavioral health services through telehealth.
Position Summary
The Licensed Mental Health Therapist provides psychotherapy services via telehealth to clients across California. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive clinical assessments, developing diagnoses and treatment plans, providing ongoing psychotherapy services, maintaining clinical documentation, and ensuring continuity of care while adhering to professional, ethical, and legal standards.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Assessment and Treatment
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop accurate DSM-5-TR diagnoses based on clinical findings.
- Create individualized treatment plans that are clinically appropriate and measurable.
- Provide individual, couples, family, and/or group psychotherapy services as assigned.
- Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
- Coordinate continuity of care and facilitate referrals when appropriate.
Crisis Assessment and Risk Management
- Conduct suicide risk assessments, homicide risk assessments, and safety evaluations.
- Develop and implement safety plans when clinically indicated.
- Respond appropriately to mental health crises and emergencies.
- Follow established protocols for crisis intervention and emergency response.
- Maintain knowledge of local emergency resources and community supports.
Legal and Ethical Compliance
- Adhere to California laws, BBS regulations, HIPAA requirements, and professional ethical standards.
- Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities related to suspected child abuse, elder abuse, dependent adult abuse, and other legally required reporting obligations.
- Maintain client confidentiality and privacy in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and ethical decision-making.
Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete clinical documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
- Maintain progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and other required records.
- Document medical necessity and treatment progress in accordance with payer requirements.
- Participate in case consultation, clinical meetings, and supervision as requested.
- Maintain compliance with insurance and practice documentation standards.
Telehealth Services
- Provide services through secure telehealth platforms.
- Maintain a professional, private, and HIPAA-compliant remote work environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency with electronic health records and telehealth technology.
- Ensure clients understand telehealth procedures, informed consent, and emergency protocols.
QualificationsRequired
- Active and unrestricted California license as one of the following:
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
- Master's degree in a behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum one year of post-licensure clinical experience preferred (not required).
- Knowledge of DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of California mandated reporting laws and ethical practice standards.
- Strong clinical documentation skills.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and ability to work remotely.
Preferred
- Experience providing telehealth services.
- Experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, family systems, and life transitions.
- Bilingual abilities strongly encouraged.
- Experience with insurance-based documentation and treatment planning.
