Role Overview
The Master Mechanic will lead day-to-day shop operations while performing advanced diagnostics and repairs. You’ll be the go-to expert for complex issues, help build a high-safety, high-quality culture, and guide junior techs as we expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair gasoline and light-duty diesel vehicles: engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, steering/suspension, electrical, HVAC, and emissions.
- Perform advanced diagnostics using scan tools, service information systems, and manufacturer procedures; provide accurate estimates and repair plans.
- Establish and maintain shop workflows, quality checks, and preventive maintenance programs tailored to a start-up environment.
- Prioritize tickets, manage parts sourcing, and maintain inventory, tools, and equipment in safe working order.
- Document work thoroughly: inspections, labor, parts, test results, and customer notes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, local).
- Support customer interactions as needed: explain findings, review options, and build trust.
- Mentor junior technicians and contribute to hiring, training, and shop culture as we grow.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on automotive repair experience with strong diagnostics across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proficiency with modern scan tools, service information (e.g., OEM, AllData, Mitchell), and calibration procedures where applicable.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in shop conditions.
- Strong communication, time management, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE Master Technician (A1–A8) or equivalent; L1 Advanced Engine Performance a plus.
- Experience in a lead tech, shop foreman, or small-shop/start-up environment.
- Light diesel experience and/or hybrid/EV safety training.
- Welding/fabrication and A/C 609 certification.
- Basic familiarity with DOT/EPA waste handling and shop safety programs.

Schedule
- Monday–Friday, occasional Saturday rotation as we grow.
