Job Description
Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.
Respond to information technology work requests primarily involving routine user assistance and support for computer software, hardware repair, maintenance, and provide support for audio/visual equipment. Develop documentation including user tips and instructions, and procedures to streamline tasks performed by other Information Technology staff. Document problem resolution/status and forward more complex issues to higher-level staff. Install computers and associated peripherals and perform routine software upgrades. Serve as a member of the Information Technology team and assist other Information Technology staff in problem resolution and in the coordination/completion of information technology projects and tasks, including but not limited to lab reloads, hardware upgrades, and audio/visual setup.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of the installation, planning, repair and maintenance of computers, associated peripheral equipment, and desktop software programs including Microsoft Office, and audio/visual equipment. Experience with local area networks. Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting methods and procedures, equipment testing, and use of a variety of diagnostic hardware and software tools and equipment. Experience working with Windows.
Additional Considerations
AAS in Computer Information Systems or related field. An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute for education and experience.
