Position Title: Assistant Pastor Volunteer
As a new church plant, we are building a passionate team of servant leaders who share our vision to reach our community with the gospel. The Assistant Pastor is a vital volunteer leadership role that works in close partnership with the Lead Pastor to shepherd the congregation, support ministry operations, and help establish a strong foundation for our growing church family.
Key Responsibilities
Pastoral Support
- Assist the Lead Pastor in preaching, teaching, and delivering sermons as requested
- Provide pastoral care, prayer, and spiritual guidance to congregation members
- Support counseling ministry, including pre-marital, crisis, and general pastoral counseling
- Visit members who are ill, grieving, or in need of pastoral attention
Worship & Ministry Leadership
- Lead or co-lead worship services, prayer meetings, and Bible studies as assigned
- Assist in the planning and execution of weekly services and special programs
- Oversee or support specific ministry areas as assigned by the Lead Pastor
- Mentor and disciple ministry leaders and volunteers within the church
Church Events & Attendance
- Attend ALL church events, services, and gatherings — this is a required commitment of this role
- This includes, but is not limited to: Sunday worship services, midweek services, prayer nights, outreach events, community service projects, church conferences, leadership meetings, and special celebrations (baptisms, dedications, holiday services, etc.)
- Represent the church with integrity and enthusiasm at all events
- Assist with event setup, coordination, and follow-up as needed
Leadership & Administration
- Participate in regular leadership meetings with the Lead Pastor and ministry team
- Contribute to vision casting, strategic planning, and goal-setting for the church
- Help recruit, train, and support other volunteers and ministry leaders
- Assist in the development of church policies, programs, and ministry initiatives
Community & Outreach
- Actively participate in outreach and evangelism efforts in the local community
- Build relationships with unchurched individuals and help connect them to the church family
- Represent the church at community events and local partnerships
Qualifications & Requirements
Faith & Character
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ with a personal, active faith
- Active member of this church or willing to become a member
- Demonstrates the character qualifications of a church leader as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
- Agrees with and upholds the church's Statement of Faith and Core Values
Experience & Skills
- Prior experience in ministry, church leadership, or pastoral work preferred
- Ability to preach, teach, and communicate biblical truth effectively
- Strong pastoral heart with a gift for relating to people across all life stages
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience working within a team
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Availability
- Must be available to attend ALL church services and events as described above
- Flexible schedule to meet pastoral care needs as they arise
- Willingness to commit to this role for a minimum of one year
Reporting Structure
The Assistant Pastor reports directly to the Lead Pastor and operates under their spiritual authority and direction. This role is collaborative in nature, and the Assistant Pastor is expected to maintain open, transparent communication with the Lead Pastor on all matters related to ministry and congregational care.

Pay: $1.00 per hour
