Knowledge of library policies and procedures related to library card registration, public computer use, and fee assessments
Knowledge of library collections, resources, and services to effectively assist patrons
Knowledge of the online public catalog and library website resources
Skill in operating library equipment and technology, including photocopiers, fax machines, change machines, public computer reservation software, room reservation software, self-checkout machines, and library automation systems
Skill in utilizing the online public catalog to locate materials and assist customers with information requests
Ability to maintain accurate records, compile statistics, and prepare routine reports
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions while maintaining attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with customers, co-workers, and the public
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships while providing exceptional customer service
Ability to adapt to changing technologies, library procedures, and customer service needs in a fast-paced environment
Conditions of Employment:
In accordance with Session Law 2025-16, candidates selected for positions involving work with children in any capacity will be required to undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history check conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Successful candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with Cumberland County must pass pre-employment screenings, including criminal history checks and drug screenings, as required by Cumberland County Policies and Procedures, prior to beginning work or receiving a final offer of employment.
