Job Overview
The Reading Instructional Coach serves as an instructional leader responsible for supporting high-quality teaching and learning throughout the school. This position works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to improve student achievement through instructional coaching, professional development, curriculum support, data analysis, and instructional leadership.
The Reading Instructional Coach promotes a culture of continuous improvement by assisting educators in implementing effective Evidence-based instructional practices, utilizing student achievement data, and fostering professional growth that aligns with the school's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide job-embedded coaching and support to teachers across grade levels and content areas.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback focused on instructional effectiveness and student engagement.
- Model effective Evidence-based instructional strategies and classroom practices.
- Support new teachers through mentoring, onboarding, and instructional guidance.
- Lead workshops, collaborative learning sessions, and professional learning communities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide professional development initiatives.
- Assist with the implementation, evaluation, and refinement of curriculum and instructional programs.
- Support teachers in curriculum planning, lesson design, and instructional delivery.
- Collaborate with instructional teams to ensure alignment between curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Assist in developing instructional resources and materials to support classroom instruction.
- Promote instructional practices that support diverse learning needs and student success.
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for growth.
- Support teachers in using assessment data to inform instructional decisions.
- Assist in monitoring student progress toward academic goals and benchmarks.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop action plans based on data findings.
- Facilitate collaboration among teachers, grade-level teams, and departments.
- Promote a culture of professional growth, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support family and community engagement efforts related to student learning and achievement.
- Assist with the implementation of educational initiatives, grants, and special programs.
- Support compliance with state, federal, and local educational requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
● Preferred: Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Reading, Special Education, or a related field.
● Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification (or ability to obtain).
● Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience.
● Demonstrated effectiveness in instructional planning, classroom management, and student achievement.
● Preferred: Experience as a mentor teacher, instructional coach, department chair, curriculum leader, or educational leader.
● Experience utilizing student performance data to guide instructional decisions.
● Valid PA Driver's License
Clearances:
- Must have valid Act 34 (Criminal Record Check)
- Act 151 (Child Abuse History Check)
- FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) Criminal History Check
- Must also complete and submit an Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form as required under Pennsylvania Act 24 of 2011
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Academic Fidelity on the basis of this job description and in accordance with the provisions of the MRCS Employee Handbook as amended.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
