Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations and
ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for a growing Home Health
organization. This role requires a detail-oriented finance professional with at least 3 years
of progressive accounting experience, preferably within healthcare or home health. The
Senior Accountant will support month-end close, reimbursement analysis, revenue
recognition, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Manage general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP
- Analyze revenue cycles, including Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care
reimbursements
- Assist with cost reporting and regulatory filings specific to Home Health
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Coordinate with external auditors and assist with annual audits
- Monitor internal controls and recommend process improvements
- Support multi-entity or multi-location financial reporting (if applicable)
- Perform quarterly reconciliation of form 941 to our payroll journal entries to ensure
accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze ad hoc reports for senior management to support strategic
planning and informed decision-making.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred:
- Experience in Home Health or healthcare accounting
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement models
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
- Experience with healthcare accounting systems or ERP platforms
